Six months after the massive tritium leak at Vermont Yankee and the succession of mishaps that followed, the Vermont Public Service Board held a forum to let people speak their mind. And, according to the news report in the Brattleboro Reformer, they did that. With two minutes apiece, speaker after speaker let them hear just how unhappy they are with nuke in Vernon, Vt.

Up to now critics of the plant have had to rely on their own forums, protests, and press releases to get heard.

And now comes word that the chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is going to meet with representatives of the groups that have been most active in their opposition to the plant.

Finally, a step in the right direction.
