The Worcester Telegram & Gazette today is reporting the purchase of a parcel of land that will preserve a scenic 2-mile stretch of the Mid-state Trail in Ashburnham. The state Dept. of Conservation and Recreation and the Ashburnham Conservation Trust have purchased a 170-acre parcel on and around Mount Hunger, located between Mount Watatic and Mount Wachusett.

It’s a lesser known section of the trail, compared to its better-known sibling peaks to the north and south, but at 1,400 ft., it offers a wonderful view, well worth the relatively easy hike.
